Bartlesville Events – February 2016

Event Time! This week we are taking a second to remind everyone of the AWESOME events going on in Bartlesville!

There is always something fun to do when you’re in Bartlesville, whether it’s going to Woolaroc, Osage Hills, or catching a show at the local theater, there is something for everyone. Now, without further delay, here is what is going on this month in Bartlesville!

Mid Century to Modern: Dinnerware by Russel Wright and Heath Ceramics
Date: February 8, 2016 – March 27, 2016
Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Price Tower

The exhibition draws upon the shifts that happened in dining within the home between the 1940s and 1960s – from more formal environments to casual situations. It will explore the ways in which “ornament” changed, the way “style” changed, and the impact of technology (plastics, especially) upon the dining experience. This was the first generation where the middleclass enjoyed access to and consumed high design objects – it is when the shift happened from formal dining to casual dining, a luxury we all enjoy today.

Drawing from Price Tower’s private collections, a variety of table settings – holiday formal, casual buffet, patio barbeque, and park picnic – will serve to display a wide selection of mid-century dinnerware, glassware, utensils, and serving pieces including those by national designers Russel Wright (1905-1976), Edith Heath (1911-2005). Both designers were revered in their time.

Public opening for this exhibition is January 8th at 5:30PM to 7:00 PM.
