We are in for some amazing weather for the next three days! I cannot believe it is not even February and we will be experiencing 70º temperatures this weekend. If you are like me, then you are going to want to take advantage of this, because as you already know the temperatures will be falling back below freezing next weekend.
You might be looking for some ideas, though, seeing how you probably aren’t prepared for an outdoor adventure with the family during the winter. So, we took it upon ourselves to come up with a few things you can do this weekend while the weather is so nice!
Without further adieu, let’s get started!
1. Osage Hills State Park
As you already know Osage Hills State park is only a few minutes from downtown Bartlesville and it is a popular getaway for many. The park features tennis courts, ball fields, and most importantly it’s hiking trails! While the trails might not be as green as they are in the summer, they will give you a unique perspective of the park as you trek through the hills.
Osage Hills State Park is a wonderful way to shake off the winter blues in this lovely springtime weather!
2. Grand Lake
For those of you that love boating and are longing for the days of Summer, now is your chance to quickly get yourself out on the lake for the weekend. Grand Lake is absolutely gorgeous any time of the year. There is so much you can do and experience, plus you’ll be able to tour the lake tourist free, as this is Grand Lake’s off season!
So, pack a lunch, grab a boat, and hit the lake this weekend. We are pretty certain that you will have a wonderful time!
3. Visit Woolaroc
Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife preserve is one of Northeast Oklahoma’s true treasures and it is right here in our own backyard! You can take a tour of the wildlife sanctuary and see buffalo, elk, and longhorn cattle. You can also tour the museum and see amazingly captivating pieces of Native American art and artifacts and Western displays as well.
Woolaroc is a great way to spend an early spring day.
4. Take a Walk Downtown
If you are someone who works in downtown Bartlesville you might not think this is that special, however, it really can be great if you take slow down and take in the architectural beauty of Bartlesville. Many of our prominent downtown builds were constructed in the early 1900’s and are filled with so much rich history. The Price Tower, for instance, was designed by the late Frank Lloyd Wright and is his only skyscraper design to ever become a reality.
Among the history, are a few modern day classics like Frank and Lola’s or The Painted Horse Bar and Grille, both are native to Bartlesville and serve some of the best food in town.
This immaculate weather is too good to pass up, so whatever you do this weekend make sure it is fun and it is spent outdoors!
We hope everyone, has a great weekend and until next time, keep loving our city!
